Not all remote jobs are the same, and some offer complete freedom – you can work literally whenever and wherever you want as long as you hit your deadlines – and others are much stricter; you have to work within core hours (which could be problematic if there’s a time zone difference) and you need to check in for meetings and so on. Those jobs aren’t going to be the best if you want to travel, so make sure you know what you’re applying for.
Upgrade Your Current Job
Something else you can do that will help you travel and work is to upgrade your current job to allow it to happen. That’s not going to be possible with every career, but if you’re a nurse, for example, it’s definitely something to look into. You’ve already got the qualifications you need to work, so make sure they’re up-to-date, write a new resume, and start looking for travel nurse jobs.
Travel nursing gives you a truly unique way to see the world, earn money, and do a job you love, so it’s definitely something to consider. You can move from one place to another by finding secure jobs in hospitals and clinics, and on your days off, you can make the most of wherever you are by exploring and trying new things. It’s the best of both worlds!
Try Seasonal Jobs
If you can find the right seasonal job and live a fairly frugal life, you might be able to save up enough money when you’re working to travel when you’re not. Once you get back, you can pick up some more seasonal work and keep the cycle going for as long as you want it to.
As we’ve said, you will probably have to live quite frugally, although there are some temporary and seasonal jobs that pay very well, especially when you factor in tips, so it’s worth taking the time to do your research and pick something that’s going to allow you to do what you want to do.
