Loving Singapore: 5 reasons to visit in 2019
Tourism in Singapore has grown exponentially in the last few years, and if you pay this island city a visit, you’ll understand why. There are so many things to see and do in Singapore that even two weeks doesn’t feel like enough time to soak it all up. If you’re on the fence about visiting, here are five reasons why you should book your flights right away.
Coffee at Central Perk Cafe
Andrea from Colombian Abroad wrote about one of the coolest cafes in Singapore, back in May 2018. If you’re a F.R.I.E.N.D.S TV show fan (who isn’t?), then you really have to pay a visit to the Central Perk Cafe in Singapore. The inside is decorated just like the TV show, and it’s the only premises outside the U.S with the proper license of reproduction from Warner Bros. If you want to feel like Ross, Rachel, Monica, Chandler, Joey or Phoebe, this is the place to grab a coffee!
Delicious (and cheap) Michelin-starred food
Did you know that you can get a Michelin-starred meal in Singapore for just $3? According to Ben Groundwater’s blog on 1Cover, the one thing you need to do in Singapore is eat everything you possibly can. Head to Liao Fan Hong Kong Soya Sauce Chicken Rice and Noodle (that’s a mouthful) in Chinatown, which is a Michelin-starred hawker stall, and tuck into their delicious offerings. Where else can you eat such exquisite food for that kind of price?
Fun and games in Sentosa
If you love thrill-seeking adventures, you won’t be disappointed in Singapore! Get on the cable car over to Sentosa, which is a little island resort off the southern coast. Nicknamed ‘The State of Fun,’ there are plenty of exciting things to see and do here. You could head to Universal Studios if you want some movie-inspired theme park rides, jump on Southeast Asia’s steepest zip wire at Mega Adventure, or go wild in the world’s largest indoor skydiving wind tunnel.
Becoming one with nature
This country has been keen to live hand in hand with nature, as you can probably tell by the Supertrees that light up the Singapore skyline. However, there’s more to see than just Gardens by the Bay to see here. Windsor Nature Park, The Singapore Botanic Gardens, and the award-winning Night Safari experience will all bring you closer to the stunning natural world in Singapore.
A bustling nightlife
Singapore really comes alive at night, and not just because the Supertrees are all lit up and looking beautiful. Head to Clarke Quay in the evenings to experience some world-class evening entertainment, from dance clubs like Zouk through to a 90s-themed arcade bar called Level Up. This country has an entire cocktail named after it, the Singapore Sling, so you know they enjoy a good party.
These are just five of the many reasons why you need to book your ticket to Singapore in 2019. Do you have any others to add to the list? Drop them in the comments.
